I currently serve as the Girguis Lab Manager, where I can be found doing anything from ordering to fieldwork logistics to benchwork. I am a marine scientist by training and received my M.S. from the University of South Florida. My thesis research was in the development of molecular detection assays for the neurotoxin-producing diatom genus Pseudo-nitzschia. I then worked as a technician at USF, participating in research cruises and performing toxicity assays in response to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
During my time in the Girguis Lab, I’ve had the opportunity to learn about the amazing microbial diversity in deep-sea environments, and I regularly work with an interdisciplinary group of people both in the lab and in the field. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, traveling, and spending time outdoors.
